This man was awarded the CB. He fought in the Peninsular Wars.His mother was Mary Phillips. He was born at Iscoed, St Ishmael;s, Carmarthenshire. He married Louisa Pleydell of Whatcombe, Winterborne Whitchurch, Dorset. Her sister married General Sir George Ridout Bingham. Louisa Pleydell was a co-heiress of Smedmore, Kimmeridge, Dorset, where the Mansels lived after they came back from St Helena where John Mansel was commanding the troops guarding Napoleon.
