Italian-born Henry Negretti came to London in 1829 and established himself as an instrument maker and optician. He went into partnership with Joseph Warren Zambra in 1850 and by 1855 they had begun trading in photography. They were photographers to the Crystal Palace Company, also maintaining a portrait studio there.
