Music business impressario, pioneer and visionary. Bought the New Musical Express in 1952, sold it in 1963 but still managed it until 1973. Instigated and developed the first music charts in the UK. Promoted the NME Pollwinners concerts from 1957-1970 including having the Beatles and the Stones on the same bill for three years running. Became a music consultant and compiler for many record labels.
