Portrait is of Charles Turner, Conservative Member of Parliament for the South West Lancashire constituency from December, 1868 until his death on 15th October, 1875, Ferranti's portrait is dated by inscription 'March 31st, 1869', thus representing the Honourable Member's appearance whilst holding his office.
