Studied at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) and made her screen debut as a student who seduces her school master Laurence Olivier in Term of Trial (1962). Went on to become a leading star in the 1960s and 1970s in films including; The Servant (1963), I Was Happy Here (1966), Blow-Up (1966) and David Lean's Ryan's Daughter (1970) for which she received an Oscar nomination. Miles married writer-director Robert Bolt in 1967. Miles has made numerous appearances on stage, film, and television, including the film The Accidental Detective (2003) and stage play Well (2008).
