I am Duncan C. Spencer - the photo is of the oxford university eight oared "Blue Boat" which won the 1963 Oxford Cambridge Boat Race. I rowed in two more Boat Races, winning again in 1965 - then pursued a career in journalism and writing in Washington D.C. I stroked the '63 crew and we won by five lengths against Cambridge. I am still rowing at 76.

Dearest Duncan, How wonderful to go this & tbat you are still rowing at 76. I am now 74 & developed a passion in the past autumn & winter - kayaking & canoeing from Chiswick Pier - & wikd swimming in the Tidal Thames - till lockdown put a stop to all that!
I think back so often to that summer - the best of my life! It was the only year in 12 years & never again as the America's Cup went well after that & the OSTAR didn't last that long either.
I would so love to be back in touch. It was such fun sailing from Newport to Annapolis on your beautiful 40' boat with Angus (?) from the Washington Post & another girl journalist. I have photos of me & the Statue of Liberty!
If thus reaches you please lets be in touch again -by email & text & phone
Big hugs, Chimpy
