Sarpong began her media career as an intern at the radio station Kiss FM in 1996. She subsequently became a presenter for MTV and a host on Channel 4's T4. In 2005 she secured an unprecedented access interview with the then Prime Minister Tony Blair. Her charitable work has seen her hosting the Make Poverty History event in London's Trafalgar Square with Nelson Mandela and Bob Geldof. She is a co-founder of WIE Network (Women: Inspiration & Enterprise) which supports female excellence, and is an ambassador for The Prince's Trust. In 2007 she became one of the youngest people to be awarded an MBE for services to broadcasting and charity, and in 2020 was awarded an OBE.
