Michael James Wilford

(1938-), Architect

Wilford studied at the Northern Polytechnic school of Architecture and later at the Regent Street Polytechnic Planning School. He worked for the practice of James Stirling, and in 1971 together established the Stirling/Wilford partnership. After Stirling's death in 1992 Wilford worked in partnership under the name of Michael Wilford and partners. He now works under the name of Michael Wilford architects in England and also has offices in Germany. His award winning designs include The Lowry performing and visual arts centre and the British Embassy in Berlin. He has taught at numerous schools of architecture including Yale, McGill University in Montreal and University of Sheffield.
