Lady Alexandra Haig was the daughter of Field-Marshal Earl Haig, a prominent IT girl of the 1930s and 1940s, and later married the historian Hugh Trevor-Roper in 1954, becoming Lady Dacre in 1979 when he was created a Life Peer.
