Welsh-born sprinter and hurdler, Jackson set a world record for the 110 metres hurdles in 1993, a time that remained unchallenged for over a decade. He won a silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and two gold medals for the same event at World Championships in 1993 and 1999. In the 2000 Summer Olympics he took fifth place and in 2002 he won European indoor and outdoor gold and a Commonwealth silver medal. He continues to inspire future generations through his sports management and coaching work. He is a well-known face on British television, appearing as a sports commentator for athletics and as a television presenter for the BBC.
