NPG x68852 Lady Alexander cannot be 1931 as the photograph appears in The Sketch in Nov 23, 1927. It was also reported there that it the portrait appeared in Beaton's show at the Cooling Galleries (also 1927).
No. 11 in the unillustrated cat. to the Cooling Galleries show confirms a photographic portrait of 'Lady Alexander' (as well as a painted portrait also illustrated in that issue of The Sketch)
‘one of the artistic thrills of the week in London was provided by Mr Cecil Beaton’s exhibition of photographs, paintings,
sculpture, dress and theatrical designs at the Cooling Gallery...’
