Beatrix Thomson

(1900-1986), Actress, airwoman and writer; third wife of Claude Rains

Actress and playwright; appeared in numerous theatrical productions during the 1920s and 1930s including Lilies of the Field (1923) and The Years Between (1926). In the 1920s she wrote and starred in a number of her own plays, among them, Wooden Shoes (1930) and Duet By Accident (1935), which earned her a film contract. Thomson, who called herself 'an airwoman', volunteered her services at an aeroplane production plant during the Second World War.
