Writer. Acted as an arts critic for a variety of publications including film critic for the Evening Standard and Sunday Express (1948-58) and Vogue (1975-87). Regular panel member of Stop the Week on BBC Radio. Wrote novel and film story with Herbert Kretzmer Every Home Should Have One (1970). Married to editor and broadcaster Drusilla Beyfus and father of Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman.
