Born in Bristol, she studied at the Slade School of Art, and became the first woman tutor at the Royal College of Art in 1958, where she taught for six years. Completed a mural commission for the Festival of Britain in 1951, and one in the Charing Cross Hospital with her husband Julian Trevelyan in 1980. Known for her domestic still life painting, she was elected to the Royal Academy in 1992.
