Nigel Coates, an architect and a professor of architectural design, studied at the Architectural Association School of Architecture and later at Nottingham University. Buildings he has designed include the Art Silo in Japan and the National Centre for Popular Music and Powerhouse::uk, which are both located in Britain. Coates is also a designer of lighting and furniture, with links to Fratelli Boffi and Poltronova. He also has work held in museum collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Cooper Hewitt and FRAC.
