Calvocoressi became Director of the Gagosian Gallery, London in 2015. He was previously the Director of the Henry Moore Foundation (2007-15). Calvocoressi began his career as a research assistant at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh, in 1977 before moving to the Modern Collection at the Tate Gallery. He was an Assistant Keeper at the Tate Gallery from 1982 until 1987 when he returned to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art as Director.
