Celia Hammond

(1941-), Fashion model

Sitter in 3 portraits
One of the top fashion models of the 1960s, Celia Hammond worked with most of the leading photographers of the era including Norman Parkinson and Terence Donovan. She had trained at Lucie Clayton's modelling school alongside Jean Shrimpton. From the early 1970s, Hammond gave up her career in modelling to devote her future work to animal welfare. In recognition of her life's work, Hammond was awarded the RSPCA's most prestigious award, The Richard Martin Award, in 2004.

Sometimes we have not recorded the date of a portrait. Do you have specialist knowledge or a particular interest about any aspect of the portrait or sitter or artist that you can share with us?
