Judith Aronson

(1942-), Photographer

Artist of 10 portraits
Judith Aronson received a BA in American Studies from the University of Michigan, and an MFA in Graphic Design at Yale University. Aronson began her photographic career in the 1970s, and assisted the photographer and director of the Insight Guides, Hans Hoefer. From 1975 to 1986 she worked in England as a graphic designer, and photojournalist (Sunday Telegraph Magazine). A Boston exhibition (1998), Faces, featured her portraits of writers and artists; the Isole Gallery, Boston, held a two-part colour retrospective Tactile / Mercantile in 2006. Based in Boston since 1986, Aronson heads the graphic design program at Simmons College.

In 2010 Aronson's book, LIKENESSES, with the Sitters Writing about One Another, was published by Carcanet Press. Since then the photographic portraits from the book have been exhibited in the US and at the Picture Gallery, Christ Church, Oxford, the Royal West Academy, Bristol, The Poetry Society, London and at the University Library, Cambridge, England.
