I was an assistant for Noel Mayne after he left Baron Studios circa 1962/3 where I had worked with other photographers. We had a lovely studio at 43 South Street, W.1. and I cut my teeth learning to use the early strobe lighting which Noel perfected as a style. My most significant memory of Noel was that he was always jolly, gentle and respectful to everyone, and had what I believe was a pleasant Irish burr to his voice. Many times he would use his daughter to model commissions who was equally charming. He did a lot of high end advertising photography besides his portraiture. It was another time.
