As a rich and successful Indian merchant Sir Dhunjiboy Bomanji and his wife donated a great deal of money to several funds for ex-servicemen before these were amalgamated into the British Legion in 1921. He lived at 'The Willows' on the Thames near Windsor. He also donated the money for a the statue of Earl Haig unveiled at Edinburgh Castle in 1923.
