American dancer, actor and singer. Began career with his sister Adele Astaire with Broadway success in shows such as Funny Face (1927). Famously partnered Ginger Rogers in Hollywood musicals including Top Hat (1935) and Swing Time (1936). Co-starred with Judy Garland in Easter Parade (1948). Continued acting career into the 1970s with films such as The Towering Inferno (1974).
