Sir Jonathan ('Jony') Paul Ive

Sitter in 3 portraits
London-born Jonathan Ive has been Apple's chief design officer since 1992. Described by Apple founder Steve Jobs as 'his creative partner', his role has been central to the company's ambition and success. Ive designed the iMac, iPhone and iPad, ground-breaking products that are not only used by millions, but can be found in the collections of museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Pompidou Centre in Paris. His work at Apple also extends to architectural projects including retail stores and Apple Park, the company headquarters in California. As a student at Newcastle Polytechnic, he twice won the Royal Society of Arts' prestigious Student Design Award. Ive was knighted in 2013 'for services to design and enterprise', and was appointed Chancellor of the Royal College of Art in 2017.

There are occasions when we are unsure of the identity of a sitter or artist, their life dates, occupation or have not recorded their family relationships. Sometimes we have not recorded the date of a portrait. Do you have specialist knowledge or a particular interest about any aspect of the portrait or sitter or artist that you can share with us? We would welcome any information that adds to and enhances our information and understanding about a particular portrait, sitter or artist.
