Martin attended the Guildhall School of Music, subsequently working for the BBC's classical music department. He joined EMI Records in 1950, where he produced many hit records as head of EMI's label Parlophone Records. In 1965 he formed Associated Independent Recordings Ltd, and AIR Studios remains one of the world's leading recording studios. Martin produced almost all of The Beatles' records and scored the music for fifteen films. He won many accolades including six Grammy Awards and was Knighted in 1996.
