Film director. Frears started his career as an assistant at the Royal Court in 1964, working with directors Lindsay Anderson, Karel Reisz and actor Albert Finney. He made his first feature film in 1971 Gumshoe and his Hollywood debut with Dangerous Liaisons in 1988. His films include Mrs Henderson Presents (2005), The Queen (2006) and Philomena (2013).
