French photographer and painter. Studied art and painting at the Académie Julien. Although Lartigue first took up photography in the early 1900s and recorded the century, his work was largely unknown until it was celebrated by a one-man show in the New York Museum of Modern Art in 1963. Best known for his retrospective book Diary of a Century (1970).
