His nickname was "Puck". He was the son of Hugh Grosvenor, the 2nd Baron Stalbridge of the UK. He was aide de campe of the Govenor of SA, later Australian Govenor, Sir Alexander Hore-Ruthven. He was an aviator and flew the Govenor around in a De Havelland 60 Moth. He died whilst training in a sea plane for a race around Australia. After Captain Harry Butler's death, Horrie Miller, aviator, purchased his plane, The Red Devil, and renamed it "Puck" after his friend Hugh Grosvenor - it won many air races. "Puck" went back to its original name 'The Red Devil'- and is the only plane of its kind still existing in the world - it is housed in Minlaton, South Australia. (entry by Samantha Battams)

While in Australia The Honorable Hugh Raufe Grosvenor, was the first person to fly solo around Australia, whilst on this flight he helped look for two missing aviators in the Timor sea off Queensland coast. Also flew to Kangaroo Island off South Australia's coast to bring a sick child to hospital.
On 6th January 1930 he was trying out the seaplane with another aviator when they developed engine trouble and crashed into Pt. Phillip Bay Victoria. No bodies where ever recovered. Hugh Grosvenor was Lieutenant in 7th Hussars, In 1927 he was member of a winning crew of an ocean yacht race, rode the Grand National twice, won the Cheltenham Gold Cup,
