Track cyclist, Hoy has competed at four consecutive Olympic games. His first Olympic medal was silver in the men's sprint at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Four years later he won gold in the 1km time trial at the Athens Olympics and went on to win another three gold medals in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics in the men's Keirin, individual sprint and the team sprint. He rounded off his successful Olympic career with another two gold medals in the team sprint and the Keirin at the 2012 Olympic games in London.
