William Jameson is my grandfather. I am currently in India but can supply information when I get back to UK. From memory he was born in Dublin. Was sent to Dartmouth Naval College then into the Navy 1st and 2nd World War. He wrote a number of Naval books and a book on Albatross when stationed in the South Pacific to witness the early nuclear testing, which he abhorred. He died of leukemia in 1966 as a result.

He was born in Drogheda, at Paltin Hall house, also spelt Platen Hall, a steely home that not longer stands, he was a great grandson of John Jameson the whiskey distillery founder, his family never lost their wealth. Born 1899 if my memory serves correctly. He was a Captain on the HMS Ark Royal, that sank the Bismark, and as one of its captains was knighted, though I think he may have been onshore leave at the time, but a knighthood was given. A good article appeared in the Drogheda Leader. He died in the UK and is buried there if my memory id correct on that part.
