Sheila Kitzinger

(1929-2015), Writer, social anthropologist and birth educator

Campaigner for nurtured and evidence-based childbirth. Since the 1960s Kitzinger worked towards women's informed choice on pregnancy and childbirth and supported home births. A graduate in social anthropology from St Hugh's College, Oxford, her research on childbirth includes women's experiences of episiotomy, induction, and the birth environment.
