There is a lot of information about Peter Paillou the Younger (including his dates), portrait miniature specialist, worked and moved from Islington to Glasgow in the LONDON METROPOLITAN ARCHIVE file online about his Huguenot father Peter Paillou the Elder, eminent bird artist. They both lived together as family members in Lower Holloway and then The Angel between 1776 and 1782.

Peter Paillou the Younger lived until 1834 (not 1806) and produced much of his best work in the nineteenth century. Prior to this, however, he had famously been commissioned to paint a miniature of Charles Darwin’s mother (Suzannah Wedgwood) who died when Darwin was very young. It was the only likeness of his mother that Darwin would ever see, and when he was reassured of its accuracy of representation, he found it almost unbearably poignant.This is now, I believe, in the collection of the Cambridge Fitzwilliam Museum.
