C. P. Teesdale was a lieutenant in the Ceylon Rifle Regiment during the disturbances of July 1848. Governor Lord Torrington wrote,
“There was not a gentleman in the Ceylon Rifle Regiment, except Second Lieutenant Teesdale.”
