Charles Clarke trained as a doctor specialising in midwifery, and joined his brother John Clarke's obstetric practice. He was for many years Surgeon at Queen Charlotte's Lying-in Hospital, and lectured on midwifery. When his brother died, Clarke became the leading practitioner in midwifery and worked to improve its status within the medical profession. In 1830, he was appointed physician to Queen Adelaide, and was made a baronet the following year.

Dr Charles Mansfield. He was originally living in Streatham. He had 5 children. He was an obstetrician and worked in Upper Norwood and West Norwood.
