John Grant
(1810-1879), Queen Victoria's head foresterSitter in 3 portraits
Grant had worked for the Balmoral estate's previous owner Sir Robert Gordon as a gillie and, from 1839, Head Keeper. Under the Queen and Prince Albert, he became Head Forester and Keeper until his retirement in 1875.
