Albert Gunther
(1830-1914), ZoologistSitter in 1 portrait
Born and educated in Germany, Gunter joined the British Museum in 1856 where, in the following year, he was appointed keeper of the Zoological Department. In 1880 he became the President of the Biological Section of the British Association for the Advancement of Science and, in 1881, President of the Linnean Society. His publications include works on fish and reptiles.
