Sitter in 1 portrait
Halkett began his service in the Dutch Army, through family connections, then helped to recruit and command in the Peninsular War the highly effective soldiers of the King's German Legion. He commanded a British brigade in the hottest part of the action at Waterloo, when he was wounded four times. Halkett ended his career as a General and Governor of the Chelsea Hospital.
