Sitter in 15 portraits
Like his younger and more famous brother George, Edward Herbert was a distinguished poet. In addition he wrote works of history, including a History of the Reign of Henry VIII, and of philosophy, notably De Veritate. Herbert also had a busy diplomatic career in France.
