George Meredith

(1828-1909), Novelist and poet

Sitter in 13 portraits
Novelist and poet; contributed poems to various periodicals; an associate of the Pre-Raphaelite group around Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Algernon Swinburne; published the poem Modern Love 1862; author of several novels including Diana of the Crossways 1885, which first brought him popular acclaim.
