Sir Henry Unton
(circa 1558-1596), Soldier and diplomatSitter in 1 portrait
Unton was a distinguished diplomat and soldier, who served in the Earl of Leicester's expedition to the Netherlands along with Sir Philip Sidney. He was knighted at Zutphen in 1586. He twice led negotiations with Henry IV of France (1591-2 and 1595-6).
