Judi Dench

Dame Judith Olivia ('Judi') Dench

Sitter in 13 portraits
Training at the Central School of Speech and Drama, Dench joined the Old Vic Company in 1957. An associate member of the Royal Shakespeare Company since 1969, she has appeared in productions including Twelfth Night, The Winter's Tale and Much Ado About Nothing. Film appearances include A Room with a View and Oscar nominated performances in Iris, Chocolat, Mrs. Brown and Notes on a Scandal. She won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Oscars in 1999 for Shakespeare in Love and an Olivier Award in 2016 for The Winter's Tale. Dench played 'M' in the James Bond films between 1995 and 2015. She has appeared in the TV series Cranford and Jane Eyre.
