Raymond John Leppard

(1927-2019), Conductor and harpsichordist

Conductor, harpsichordist and composer; following a lectureship in Music at Cambridge (1958-68), Leppard became principal conductor of the BBC Northern Symphony Orchestra (1972-80). He was the principal guest conductor of the St Louis Symphony Orchestra (1984-90) and Musical Director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra (1987-2001).
