Former Chairman of the National Art Collections Fund (1986-2003). Studied Classics at Cambridge followed by a PhD in Architecture and History of Art. Held various leadership roles in the arts, including the Courtauld Institute of Art (Chairman, 1982-2002), Crafts Council (Chairman, 1997-2005) and the Burlington Magazine (Director). Goodison wrote many articles and papers on the history of furniture, clocks and barometers.
