Revd. Mother Mary Clare Moore was Superior of the Community of the Sisters of Mercy at Bermondsey, one of the original group of Catholic Sisters who arrived in London from Dublin in November 1839 to establish their first English convent in Augustus Pugin's uncompleted building.(1) On returning to England from the Crimea, Mother Mary Clare returned to Bermondsey, and served as Superior there until her death in December 1874.(2) She remained a friend and correspondent of Florence Nightingale for the remainder of her life.(2)

I have a Catholic Pastoral book ( published in 1625 ) that once belonged to Sister Mary Clare Moore , which contains her full signature, with a handwritten Latin prayer possibly also written by her.
