William Russell, REV. BA, son of John Russell, RA, correct birthdate is November 26, 1784. The dedication plaque at Shepperton [I have a pdf] reads "In memory of the Rev'd William Russell B.A. For 53 years Rector of the parish who departed this life Sep'tr 24th 1870 aged 85 and whose remains are interred in the cemetery. This tablet is placed here by the parishioners in affectionate remembrance of his long kind and faithful services".
A death date a month prior to his birthday.

John Russell, RA, by G. Williamson 1894 had incorrect [re: artists William and sister Maria] and missing dates. While a resource, it is not capable of using current archive information and revision like ULAN/WITT/Benezit, etc. The site GENI John Russell [below] is maintained by R.J. Lampert [a Russell; I can provide contact info]. The pastellist.com has corrected updates for the entire Russell Family including William, Maria, others [below]. Russell family dates and info on Benezit/ULAN and other reference sites are incorrect and I am reaching out to them as well. Thank you. [Sorry for the "speech".]

There are occasions when we are unsure of the identity of a sitter or artist, their life dates, occupation or have not recorded their family relationships. Sometimes we have not recorded the date of a portrait. Do you have specialist knowledge or a particular interest about any aspect of the portrait or sitter or artist that you can share with us? We would welcome any information that adds to and enhances our information and understanding about a particular portrait, sitter or artist.
