A pupil of the Huguenot painter Jean-Henri Brandon, Guillaume Birochon was taken up by the Spanish ambassador Beretti-Landi, with whom he travelled to Switzerland, The Hague and Brussels, and whom he accompanied in 1724 to the conference at Cambrai which ran from 1721 to 1725.
