Alexander Keiller
(1889-1955), Archaeologist and businessmanSitter in 1 portrait
Archaeologist and heir to a Dundee marmalade business. Keiller was largely responsible for the preservation of the neolithic site of Avebury in Wiltshire. Purchasing the land and manor of Avebury, he worked on the excavations in the 1920s and 30s, transferring the property to the National Trust in 1943.
