Sitter in 3 portraits
Musician, singer and songwriter. Made his debut in 1977, but first rose to fame with the album Armed Forces (1979), and the single, Oliver's Army, both of which reached No 2 and were followed by numerous further successes. A pioneer of new wave punk music, he has remained an influential figure, appealing along a broad front, as demonstrated by his collaborations with the Brodsky Quartet and Burt Bacharach.
