Michael Owen

(1979-), Footballer

Sitter in 1 portrait
Liverpool and England footballer who rose to fame in the 1998 World Cup. A product of Liverpool F.C's youth system, Owen became Liverpool's youngest goal-scorer on his debut against Wimbledon in 1997. The following year, aged 18 years, he also became the youngest player of the century to play for England. After two years of injury problems, Owen helped Liverpool win the Treble in 2001. In the same year, he scored a memorable hat-trick in England's 5-1 victory over Germany and won the title European Footballer of the Year.
