Shaznay Lewis
(1975-), Singer; member of All SaintsSitter in 1 portrait
Lewis began her musical career as a backing vocalist, during which time she met Mel Blatt. The pair began writing and recording together, forming All Saints in 1994 which became a foursome when Nicole and Natalie Appleton joined. As the main songwriter, she brings an R'n'B and hip hop sway to the band's music which set it apart from other popular girl bands. In 1997, All Saints scored a Brit Award-winning hit with "Never Ever", which topped the UK and Australian charts. They released their debut album All Saints the same year, most of the songs were co-written by Shaznay and the album reached number two in the United Kingdom. In the year that the band split (later to be reformed) she won the Ivor Novello Award for best songwriting.
