American-born but based in London, Rock's photographic career was launched though commissions for The Face. Starting in the late 1970s Rock's photographs of The Clash and the Generation X were published and she continued to work for the magazine on a regular basis until the late 1980s. Rock enjoyed both an artistic freedom featuring in her documentary photography and more classical portraits in black and white. She has worked on personal projects and for advertising.
