Weisz read English at Trinity Hall, Cambridge before appearing in films such as Stealing Beauty (1996) and The Land Girls (1998). She became known to audiences internationally following her role in The Mummy (1999). In 2005 she was named Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globe Awards for her role in the film The Constant Gardener. Other films include The Whistleblower (2010) and The Deep Blue Sea (2011). Weisz starred in Rob Ashford's production of A Streetcar Named Desire (2009) winning the award for Best Actress at both the Evening Standard Theatre Awards (2009) and at the Laurence Olivier Awards (2010) for her performance.
